Tomahawk Building sold

The Tomahawk building is under new ownership.

Friday, Green River Futures sold the building to Green River Opportunities Wyoming (GRoWYO), a limited liability company formed by a group of investors with local ties.

Green River Futures member Mike Frink said he will continue tomanage the building, while GRoWYO will make investments into a fire suppression system and elevator, which will allow for futures improvements and open occupancy to the upper floors of the building.

According to a press release from GRoWYO, the company plans to make the building an important and vibrant part of Green River by creating mixed-use spaces within the building.

Frink said negotiations for the purchase didn’t take a lot of time.

“We just talked about it, they got together and bought it,” Frink said. “We sold them a nice building.”

With money from the sale, Frink said Green River Futures plans to reinvest the money into an improvement project, though the exact project isn’t known yet. Frink said Futures has a number of ideas and he personally would like to see Futures do a project downtown, but the board will have to meet and determine what it wants to do.

A lien on the building was released by the Green River City Council Dec. 6, 2016. The lien was placed as the result of an agreement between the city and Futures to improve the building with grant funding from the Wyoming Business Council. The city would eventually return a grant for the WBC intended for the building. The building was originally built in 1921.
