Yum! Green eggs and ham

One doesn’t have to wait until Dr. Seuss’ birthday to have green eggs and ham.

Last week, the preschool my youngest son, John, 4, attends was hosting a Dr. Seuss event. This event was not only for the students who attend the school, but an open house for those who wanted to learn more about the preschool.

I signed up to bring treats and was asked to make green eggs and ham. I didn’t know what they wanted, but then I received a photo of what I was asked to make, it was a picture of pretzels, with melted white chocolate and a green M&M in the middle of it. The pretzels were supposed to look like bacon and the white chocolate and green M&M looked like an egg on it.

It looked easy enough to make. I went to the pantry to see what ingredients I needed. I quickly realized I needed to buy three ingredients.

After purchasing what I needed. I returned home and got right to work. I melted the chocolate in the microwave. I used two blocks of white almond bark and half of a white chocolate bar. I like added white chocolate to the bark because it gives it better flavor, but you could just use almond bark if you like.

While the chocolate was cooling a little bit, I laid out the pretzels in sets of three on a silicone mat. If you don’t have one, wax paper will work just fine.

I then dripped the white chocolate on the pretzels until it looked egg like and then placed the M&M in the middle.

“It really does look like and egg,” I said to myself as the treat took shape.

Then, I just waited about a half an hour for the chocolate to set.

That’s it. It’s simple, creative, tastes great and looks like it took a long time, when it didn’t. All of those things are important when you’re a busy mom. So give it a try.

Ingredients

2 pieces of white almond bark

1/2 a bar of white chocolate (1/2 cup of white chocolate chips would work too)

Pretzel sticks (the small ones)

Mint flavored M&Ms (You can use regular M&Ms, but you will have to pick out all of the green ones.)

This will make about 30 green eggs and ham.

Directions

Melt the chocolate in the microwave for about 1 to 2 minutes. The time all depends on your microwave. While the chocolate is cooling down a bit, simply place the pretzels in groups of three on a silicone sheet or wax paper. Then, drizzle the white chocolate on the pretzel groups of three to make them look like eggs. Finally, place the green M&M with the M down onto the white chocolate.

Wait for the chocolate to harden. Pull them off of the wax paper or silicone sheet and they are ready to eat.
