Richard "Dick" Wilson

Richard "Dick" Wilson, 84, of Green River, passed away Aug. 7, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. A longtime resident of Green River and former resident of Casper, Wilson died following a lengthy illness.

He was born on Feb. 3, 1932 in Lewiston, Idaho, the son of Van Richard Wilson and Gean Cerino. 

Wilson attended Sheridan High School and was a 1951 graduate. 

He married Carline Fern Wolf in Sheridan July 20, 1953. 

Wilson was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War and served from March 13, 1951 until Aug. 24, 1956 when he received his honorable discharge. He received the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal and the Army Occupational Medal. 

He was employed as an installer and supervisor for Mountain Bell for 30 years retiring in 1983 and then he worked for Sweetwater Cable TV for 15 years and retired in 2002. 

Wilson was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, B.P.O. Elks Lodge, Shriner's Club and Lions Club International. He was also a Free Mason. 

He served as a councilman for the City of Green River from 1999 until 2002. 

His interests included fishing, hunting, backpacking and spending time with his family.  He was also an avid Wyoming Cowboy's Football Fan.

Survivors include his wife Carline Fern Wilson of Green River; five sons, Randy Wilson of Quincy, Calif., James Wilson and wife Julie of Rock Springs, Chuck Wilson and wife Linda of Littleton, Colo., David Wilson and wife Julie of Rock Springs and Allan Wilson and wife Tammy of Green River; one daughter, Debbie Darrough and husband Dan of Rock Springs; one sister, Karen Hisken of Oregon House, Calif .; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Van and Gean Wilson; one son, Gordon Tracey Wilson in 1966 and one brother, Robert Wilson. 

Following cremation, a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 p.m. Thursday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Green River. A vigil service with rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, at the church. Military honors and inurnment will be in the Riverview Cemetery Columbarium.

Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the rosary and at the church one hour prior to the funeral services.
