Louis James Yakse

Louis James Yakse, 90, passed away Jan. 28, 2016, at Sage View Care Center. A lifelong resident of Rock Springs, Yakse died following a lengthy illness.

He was born June 13, 1925 in Rock Springs, the son of the late Louis John Yakse and Mildred L. Christensen.

Yakse attended schools in Rock Springs and was a graduate of the Rock Springs High School with the class of 1943. He went into the U.S. Navy following graduation and had electrician training at Farragut, Idaho. He served in the Pacific on an LST during WWII and in Japan after the armistice.

He married Betty Helen Tominc on Aug. 11. 1951 in Rock Springs and she preceded him in death on Jan. 12, 2013.

Yakse was employed in Rock Springs and Casper in various jobs and retired from a maintenance position for the City Housing Authority through the City of Rock Springs after 13 years in 1989. 

Survivors include his nephew Alan Tominc and wife Kathleen; sister Helene Novotny; brother in law, Stanley Tominc; two sisters-in-law; Sophia Tidstrom and Virginia Tominc; various nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces also survive.

He was preceded in death by, parents, wife Betty H. Yakse, brother William Yakse; two brothers-in-law, Ken Tidstrom and Frank Tominc and one sister-in-law, Jeanne Tominc.

Cremation will take place and memorial graveside services will be announced at a later date.
