LaVerne N. Bettolo

LaVerne N. Bettolo, 83, of Rock Springs passed away Oct. 29, 2015 at the Mission at Castle Rock in Green River.  A long-time resident of Superior and Rock Springs, Bettolo passed away following a lengthy illness.

She was born on January 13, 1932 in Rock Springs, the daughter of the late Carl J. Carlson and Lillian Johnson.

Bettolo attended schools in Superior, and graduated from Superior High School with the class of 1950. She attended and graduated from the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Denver and obtained her nursing degree.

She married Bruno H. Bettolo in Las Vegas, March 4, 1960 and he preceded her in death on April 3, 2011.

Bettolo worked as a nurse at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County for 22 years and for the Sweetwater County School District No. 1 for sixteen years until her retirement in May, 1991.

She was a member of the First Congregational Church, PEO Chapter L., Young at Heart Senior Center.

Her interests included knitting, sewing, dancing, spending time with her children and grandchildren and entertaining on her patio.

Survivors include two sons, Brent Bettolo and companion Judi Collins of Rock Springs, and Brad Bettolo and wife Kiera of Rock Springs; one daughter, Carla Pivic and husband Bruce of Rock Springs;  six grandchildren, Jeff Pivic and wife Emily of Phoenix, Jill Pivic of Denver, Devon Bettolo of Rock Springs, Tyler Bettolo of Rock Springs, Lea Bettolo of Cheyenne, and Abby Bettolo of Rock Springs; one brother, Robert "Bobby" Bettolo and wife Margaret Ann of Rock Springs; three nephews Mark Bettolo and wife Sue of Salt Lake City, Dick Bettolo and wife Kris of Rock Springs, and John Bettolo of Rock Springs; as well as several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

In honor of her Superior heritage, the family requests that everyone wear purple to the services.

Funeral Services took place Tuesday at First Congregational Church, 1275 Adams Avenue, Rock Springs. Interment will be in the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery.
