Wolves trample Tigers

The wolves came out of the gates charging. They dominated the first set, winning 25-7.

"The girls came out and just really focused on not letting the ball hit the floor and hitting really well, and they got a lot of blocks in that first game," coach Rikki Shantz said. "That was really fun to see, watching them play at their highest."

After winning the first game, the girls relaxed, allowing the Tigers to get ahead of them by a few points. The Wolves lost the second game, 21-25. After a win, the girls can't relax at all, Shantz said. It's important to keep the pressure on.

After losing the second game, the girls did keep the pressure on, and won the remaining two sets. The last two games were a fight though; Rock Springs didn't let up easily. Their blocks were solid and their crowd was rowdy. The Lady Wolves were down to Rock Springs early in the last game, 12-5, and made their way back up.

"We had a little bit of time to just kind of chip away at their lead," Shantz said. "I think it was just all mental and knowing that they could come back and win, so they just really wanted that win."

The Lady Wolves travel to Casper Thursday and Friday, for conference games against Kelly Walsh and Natrona.

"They're always really tough competitions," Shantz said.

Shantz said the upcoming games in Casper are really important for getting to the State competition at the end of the season.

"It will really help our cause," Shantz said.

After Casper, there are a couple more conference games, and then onto regionals to finalize state.
