More Lady Wolf swimmers qualify for State

Green River High School swimmers came away from the Gillette Invite triumphantly, with improved times and state-qualified swimmers added.

“We pretty much had time improvements across the board, so that was nice,” coach Coleen Seiloff said.

Two girl’s swimmers, Jarin and Emilee Mandros’ times improved well enough to qualify them for state, joining five of their teammates who are set to swim for State. Jarin qualified for State with the 100-yard butterfly. The qualifying time limit for the butterfly is 1:11.5.

Emilee qualified for State, swimming the 100-yard breaststroke. The qualifying time for the breaststroke is 1:20.

“We’re really excited about that one,” Seiloff said.

The now seven GRHS swimmers qualified for State include, Dakota Neumann, McKell Lyon, Brianna Rath, Avery Otto, Ashley Jensen and Jarin and Emilee Mandros.

All seven of the swimmers scored in the top 20 times at the Gillette Invite.

Overall as a team, the GRHS swim team ranked ninth at the Invite, in a total of 16 teams, or schools competing.

“Our girls have really improved since the beginning of the year, and they’ve come together as a team,” Seiloff said. “They’ve been working hard. It’s one of the hardest working teams that I’ve had. (They’re) just a strong group of girls that I think have just worked together well.”

The swim team has conference in Riverton, Thursday and Friday.

The Last Chance meet is Oct. 22, against Rock Springs; the team’s last chance to qualify for State swimming. If swimmers don’t qualify then, they won’t go to State. That’s why it’s called the Last Chance meet, Seiloff said.

“We’re down to the end,” Seiloff said. “We’ll see what happens. I just want the girls to show up and swim their best and let the team score take care of itself.”
