Families visit splash park one last time

The Green River Splash Park may have been unvisited for a few days after school started, but it was busy once again before it closes for the season.

The city usually shuts the Splash Park off after the Labor Day; and knowing this residents and visitors alike were flocking to it one last time.

Friday afternoon was no different.

Brian Thompson of Manilla, Utah said they were visiting the big city of Green River to do grocery shopping. While his wife grocery shopped, he took his kids and one of their friends to the splash park.

"We've got to get in our one last hurrah," Brian said.

The weather was nice, but the wind was pretty intense. This did not stop the Thompson children from running through the splash park.

They would then run over to Evers Park to play on the playground equipment and warm up. Before running back into the splash park.

"The bucket is my favorite because it's just a bunch of water that falls on you," Chris Barton said. "It surprises you."

His friend, Keegan Thompson, said his favorite was the mushroom because it just keeps going, but there is also a nice place to hide from the water next to the mushroom's pole.

Another family from Utah was on their way through town when they saw a sign for the splash park. They decided to stop and play. When the children got cold, they loaded up and went on their way. They too were excited to play at such a nice park.

All of those at the park agreed it was a nice way to end the summer.

Schools that have not started yet, probably did this week, which is why one last trip to the splash park was important to them.
