Ida L. Vigil

Ida L. Vigil, 95, of Green River, passed away June 25, 2015 at Mission at Castle Rock in Green River. A longtime resident of Green River, Vigil passed away following a short illness.

She was born on Dec. 27, 1919 in San Luis, Colo., the daughter of the late Jose Francisco DeSalles LaCombe and Sarah Lewis Sanchez LaCombe. 

Vigil attended schools in San Luis, Colorado.

She married Joe C. Vigil in San Luis, Colo. on Dec. 17, 1938. He preceded her in death in Green River, Jan. 11, 2006.

Throughout her years, Vigil worked for the Green River Mercantile as a clerk, Little America and the Tomahawk Hotel as a housekeeper, Dell's Market as a cashier, and Castle Department Store as a clerk.

She was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Green River since 1950 and was a lifetime Roman Catholic. Her interests included fishing, camping, she loved baking bread and making chokecherry jelly, attending parades and family reunions, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include son Tom Vigil of Aurora, Colo .; three daughters, Betty Myrick and husband Alfred of Kingman, Ariz., Marie Colestock and husband Elmer of Green River, and Debbie Thaler of Green River; 11 grandchildren, Cecilia Myrick, Alan Myrick, Jody Myrick Cote', Sandy Vigil Barbour, Tommy Vigil, Windy Vigil Driver, Cindy Colestock Amundson, Aaron Colestock, Remle Colestock, Nathan Thaler and Sarah Thaler; 12 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose Francisco DeSalles LaCombe and Sarah Lewis Sanchez LaCombe; husband Joe C. Vigil; four brothers and one sister.

A memorial mass took place Wednesday morning.
