Nine swimmers headed to state meet

A total of nine Green River athletes will look to shine this week at the Wyoming 4A State Swimming and Diving Championships in Gillette.

Individually four Wolf swimmers qualified for state.

Paul Wright, Brendan Bloomquist, Ethan Moffatt and Paul Wright all qualified earlier this season for the meet that will take place Thursday and Friday.

Wright has qualified in the 200-yard IM and 100 butterfly, Moffatt set a qualifying time in the 100 breaststroke, Bloomquist qualified in the 200-yard IM, and Moore qualified in the 1-meter diving.

Phillip Blume, Brendon Curry-Hobbs, Dalton Minor, Nick Green and Steven Weaver will also be taking part in the state tournament as part of several Green River relay teams.

Wolf head coach Colleen Seiloff said the team is excited for the opportunity to compete at state.

She said it will be good for the younger members of the team to experience the environment of the state meet.

The meet will be the last for four Green River swimmers withWright, Minor, Green and Weaver all being seniors.

Seiloff said that Minor and Weaver were new to the team this year and did a good job for only having swam one year for the school.

Last week, members of the team joined Rock Springs and Evanston to compete at a last chance meet that gave swimmers an additional opportunity to qualify for state.
