Katherine Burlech

Katherine Burlech, 101, of Rock Springs passed away Feb. 14, 2015 at the Castle Rock Convalescent Center in Green River.  A  longtime resident of Rock Springs, Burlech died following a sudden illness.

She was born on Jan. 5, 1914 in Rock Springs, the daughter of the late George Krichbaum and Mary Kramarst Krichbaum.

Burlech quit school in the 10th grade to go to work.

She met her husband Frank Burlech Sr. at the Sunlight Bakery. They married in Manila, Utah on April 3, 1937 and he preceded her in death on July 18, 1969.

Burlech was a member of Young At Heart Senior Citizen's Center and American Fraternal Union.

They enjoyed staying in a cabin at South Pass in the summers and camping on the East Fork. She loved traveling, going to polka festivals and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed gardening, camping, embroidering, arts and crafts.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary Muckley and husband Bob of Rock Springs; two granddaughters Brenda Williams and Darla Muckley; great-grandchildren Kacy Williams, Alie Williams and Erinn Williams.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son who died in infancy, twelve brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, at Vase Funeral Chapel, 154 Elk Street in Rock Springs. Interment will be in the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Vase Chapel Thursday one hour prior to services.
