Junior varsity has solid performance in Colorado

While their varsity teammates were competing in Grand Junction, the Green River High School junior varsity wresting team was competing against tough competition in Fruita, Colo.

Kaycee Cochrane finished in first place for Green River.

Caleb Nathan and Eric Clingenpeel finished second, Zack Orr was third, and Mikel Moser ended in fourth place.

Dan Mondragon, Talbert Bowen, Devon VanValkenburg, Cameron Harmon, Chance Anderson, Nick Froats, Derrik Erickson, Hunter Arvig, Manny Lopez, James McCarter, and Gabe Bunderman also competed for the Wolves but didn’t place in the top top four.

Head coach Marshall Rhodes said he was pleaded with the wrestlers and how they competed.

“Many of these guys will be called on to compete at the varsity level in February so getting matches and fixing mistakes is a must, if they keep working hard they will be ready,” Rhodes said. “Christmas break will give us a chance to get in better shape and work on some technical things, both of which are needed. It is all about competing hard, improving, and being ready in the end.”
