Six appeal to perform

The Sweetwater County Concert Association will kick off its 75th year concert season with Six Appeal.

During the 2014-15 season, the concert association has four concerts slated. The first concert will showcase an award-winning male a cappella vocal band, Six Appeal. They began as a collegiate hobby in 2006 at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn. Performing around campus was a great way to relax from classes, create a new sound on campus, and yes, meet girls.

As the group evolved into a professional ensemble in 2010, Six Appeal began to introduce new members, transforming their sound and focus into the current dynamic sextet. The members are formally instructed in singing and musical composition and have more than 70 combined years of musical training and experience.

Today, Six Appeal Vocal Band is one of the busiest touring a cappella ensembles in the country. From coast to coast, the group has become known for their vivid musical style, unmatched energy, and playful charm.

Their far-reaching repertoire spans a multitude of decades and genres, including pop, country, classic rock, jazz, R&B, and much more.

In 2012, they won the title of National Harmony Sweepstakes Champions, securing their place in the a cappella community. The appeal of these young men enables Six Appeal to perform anywhere from college campuses, to state fairs, corporate functions, community festivals, theaters, kindergarten through 12th grade classrooms, and has even brought them into the national spotlight, singing for the 2013 Allstate Sugar Bowl live on ESPN.

The group performs Tuesday, Oct. 28, at Lincoln Middle School.

About the association

The association has begun its membership campaign for the 2014-2015 concert season. Information on the concerts and membership fees will be mailed to all previous members and will also be available at the Rock Springs and Green River chambers of commerce. Season memberships and individual concert tickets will also be available at the door the night of the first concert. The public may also contact any of the Sweetwater County Concert Association volunteers, association president Tina Price or treasurer Bernadine Craft for more information.

The Sweetwater County Concert Association is a local nonprofit group whose mission is to bring the best in live professional entertainment to the residents of Sweetwater County at the lowest cost possible.

They are able to achieve this goal by offering the concerts to members of the association for one low fee for the entire season. This allows the majority of their funds to be raised at the beginning of the season in the fall to ensure there is sufficient money to cover all expenses. This also gives the members a much better deal in comparison to the ticket price that is offered to the general public for the individual concerts.

Members of the association also enjoy reciprocity with the Craig, Colorado Association. This means that they are able to attend the concerts of the Craig Association as part of their local membership fee, thus doubling the number of performances available to them.

The association also hosts the annual “Bite Night” fundraiser to help generate funds and allow them to keep the membership fees low. They also provide a local scholarship program that provides music-related needs, such as instrumental rental or repair etc for local students and promote music education by working with Sweetwater Board of Cooperative Educational Serivices to provide student matinees and master classes whenever possible.
