Hospital welcomes doctors

Staff Report

It has been an eventful year for the Family Medicine clinic at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County.

The clinic moved into their new location in the Medical Office & Physician Clinic, on the campus of the hospital, in mid-summer and have also increased the size of their team to four Family Medicine providers.

This past month, Dr. Michael Bowers and Dr. Brytton Long joined Dr. Steven Babcock and Dr. David Dansie at Memorial Hospital Family Medicine. They both recently moved to the area after signing with MHSC and have already begun seeing patients.

DR. BOWERS

Bowers, a board-certified Family Medicine physician, joined the clinic from Turlock, Calif.

His training has allowed him to explore many parts of the country from his undergrad days at Brigham Young University, medical school at Des Moines University in Iowa to residency in Ashland, Ken.

He and his family are happy for the chance to move back out West.

In addition to Family Medicine he is Board Certified in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, which allows him to treat acute injuries such as whiplash, acute muscle strains, etc. He is focused on providing personal care and appreciates the opportunity to treat a variety of patients from pediatrics to adults. He also specializes in doing minor procedures in the office setting such as ingrown toenail removal and skin biopsies.

During his training. Bowers was eager for the chance to participate in international medicine. While serving the people of South Africa and the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico, he was able learn different approaches in helping patients heal, as well as the opportunity to treat advanced diseases and manifestations that are rare in the United States.

Bowers is excited to share this experience with his wife and children and to explore all the outdoor activities Wyoming has to offer.

He is always up for a good game of racquetball or volleyball, trying local favorite restaurants and board games.

“I am dedicated to establishing a practice here in Rock Springs and becoming involved in Sweetwater County. Thanks for having me,” he said.

DR. LONG

Long recently arrived to Rock Springs after completing his Family Medicine Residency at University of Wyoming in Casper.

Originally from Idaho, he has grown to love this region over the last three years and is excited to continue practicing in Wyoming. Long and his wife, Madeline, have three little girls; welcoming their latest addition in July.

He enjoys many athletic activities including basketball, softball, soccer, and most every other sport he can get involved in.

As a family they enjoy many recreational sports, outdoor activities, as well as traveling.

Long enjoys a wide scope of practice, which explains his passion for Family Medicine. His special interests include Sports Medicine, Wilderness Medicine, and International/Travel Medicine. These special interests became evident when he had the opportunity to live, work, and travel among the people of South and Central America as well as other diversified rural areas in the greater northwest States. As a physician, he not only values the patient individually but culturally.

“Joining the Memorial Hospital family gives me the opportunity to know the people here in Sweetwater County, and serve their medical needs based on their personal values,” he said.

Memorial Hospital Family Medicine is located on the first level of the Medical Office and Physician Clinic at 1180 College Drive.

They are currently taking patients and offer same-day appointments and late hours during the week.
