Dixie Mada Genetti, 98, of Green River, passed away Dec. 18, 2018, at the Mission at Castle Rock Convalescent Center. Overall, we think 2018 was a good year for Green River and Sweetwater County. Green River celebrated its 150th birthday to a celebration worthy of something that occurs once every 150 years. The city has made strides in work on the UP Depot building, accomplishing enough to fulfill the conditions of the city’s original five-year lease, opening up a 99-year lease for the building. I live many miles from Green River, but I remember visiting you town back in 2013. I enjoyed the motel and the food up near the interstate. Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County is still celebrating the milestone it reached on Dec. 2. On that day in 1893, dedication ceremonies were held with the Masons of Rock Springs Lodge No. 12 placing the cornerstone. It was completed and opened within a year at the top of C Street in Rock Springs. The hospital went through many transformations before it moved to its 1200 College Drive location.
