    Don Van Matre, a long-serving Sweetwater County Commissioner and former mayor of Green River, died early Thursday morning at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County. He was 76. Flags were flown at half-mast Monday in both Sweetwater County and the state offices in Cheyenne from sunrise to sunset in Van Matre’s honor.     With the passing of Sweetwater County Commissioner Don Van Matre Thursday morning, the county commissioners will need to declare his position vacant. However, the commissioners decided to wait until their May 21 meeting to make that declaration.     The Sweetwater County Justice Center was recently selected for a design award for its innovative and functional design. The justice center was designed to house two Third Circuit Courts, the Sweetwater County Sheriff's Department, Sweetwater County attorney's department and the Wyoming public defenders' offices.     Sweetwater County officially received its first Gateway West Impact payment Tuesday. During the Sweetwater County Commissioners meeting Tuesday morning, the Commissioners heard an update from Sweetwater County Treasurer Robb Slaughter about the impact funding the county is receiving.     Tata Chemicals hosted a successful diaper drive for United Way of Southwest Wyoming Community Diaper Bank. During the Diaper Drive, 1,049 diapers and $2,500 in funds were donated by employees of Tata Chemicals and United Steelworkers Local 15320. As a generous gesture, Tata Chemicals matched employee contributions to bring the total to $5,000 collected.
