A trip to Cheyenne resulted in $295,000 in additional funding for the city’s landfill closure and transfer station projects. Last week, a group in the U.S. Senate, including both of Wyoming’s senators, voted to support state efforts to buy national forests, wildlife refuges and wilderness areas. The vote, which is a symbolic vote and thankfully not carrying any legal weight, was a budgetary amendment called SA 838. William "Vern" Van Matre, 68, of Green River passed away April 3, 2015 at the Intermountain Health Care in Salt Lake City of pancreatic cancer. Van Matre was born in Hilo, Hawaii. At the age of four, he moved to Eden Valley and then moved to Green River, where he attended Green River High School. He was inducted into the hall of fame twice for athletic accomplishment. A longtime resident of Rock Springs and former resident of Teocaltiche, Jalisco, Mexico, Delgadillo passed away following a brief illness. Tommy Eugene Potter, 62, of Rock Springs passed away April 9, 2015. A lifelong resident of Rock Springs, Potter passed away suddenly. He was born on June 24, 1952 in Rock Springs, the son of the late Blaine Potter and Florence Delgado. In 1989 Rulon Gardner finished first at the annual Bill Thoman Memorial Tournament. Twenty five years later, Gardner returned to Green River High School.
