Finally stepping out after the winter sports season, the Green River High School track team are focusing on self improvement this season. Head coach Dan Hansen said he’s excited for the upcoming season. Weather resulted in the Wolves outdoor track team canceling their first scheduled meet in Kearns, Utah. In order to avoid a second cancellation, the Pete Olsen Memorial Track Meet in Big Piney was rescheduled from March 23 to March 21 to avoid a forecasted snow storm. Seven area teams participated in the local meet, including the host Big Piney, Pinedale, Mountain View, Jackson, Farson-Eden, Lyman and Green River. Focusing on new humanitarian projects is something the sewing group at the Golden Hour Senior Center makes a priority. Every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., including a break for lunch, the sewing group meets at the GHSC. The group varies from week to week. Some enjoy coming in the morning, while others prefer the afternoon. Regardless of what time they come in, they are ready to create items for others. Micki Gilmore wants to help the library she’s loved and worked at. Gilmore was a librarian at the Sweetwater County Library in Green River and was instrumental in developing a number of beloved library programs, including the popular ghost walks and medieval faire. A woman accused of child abuse after allegedly choking a child under 16 years of age could face prison time. Joanna Stephenson, 28, of Green River, appeared in the Third District Court of Judge Richard Lavery at an arraignment to one felony count of child abuse where she pleaded not guilty.
