Wrestlers prepare for Ron Thon

The Green River High School Wolves wrestling teams competed at the Tiger Grizz Invitational in Idaho Falls, Idaho, last weekend, ending with the varsity squad taking fourth place and the JV wrestlers securing ninth.

For head coach Josh Wisniewski, both the varsity and JV squads wrestled well.

"I think we took a big step toward our season goals," he said.

Wisniewski said the coaches are trying to instill championship habits in the team to help them accomplish their goals, one of which is to earn a third state title.

The wrestlers will hop back on the bus this weekend to compete in Riverton Friday and Saturday at the Ron Thon tournament.

Wisniewski said the tournament will give the Wolves a good idea of where they stand against other teams in Wyoming. It will also give them insight into how other wrestlers compete, allowing them an opportunity to study and prepare for those styles at regionals.

"We want a good showing for sure," Wisniewski said.

After the Ron Thon, the Wolves will face the Evanston Red Devils in competition at home Jan. 31, which the the team's senior night.
