With at least 35 craft vendors signed up to attend, the Golden Hour Senior Center’s Annual Christmas Craft Fair is an event residents will want to attend.
Acting activities coordinator Kathy McCormick said those looking for a unique and one-of-a-kind gift will not want to miss this fair.
For a $1 admission fee on both Friday and Saturday, residents can look through more than 35 craft booths or visit the five food vendors.
The doors will open on Friday at 4 p.m. and will remain open until 7 p.m. During this time, residents won’t have to worry about leaving the center to find dinner because a dinner is being offered. The dinner will consist of hamburgers, hot dogs, French fries or chili cheese fries.
For those who want to wait until Saturday, they can purchase the same lunch or come in early to have their children eat breakfast with Santa Claus, which will take place from 8:30-10 a.m. The craft fair will be open on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“It’s just a chance for the kids to come and greet Santa and tell him their dreams and wishes,” McCormick said.
While the children visit with Santa, residents can eat one of two breakfast options. The first option is pancakes, sausage or bacon and a beverage for $4, while the second option in a cinnamon roll and beverage for $3.
It’s always interesting watching how the children will react to Santa. McCormick said some of them are excited, while others are apprehensive.
As for the fair itself, with such a variety of gifts one is sure to find that special gift for a relative or friend. McCormick said most of the vendors participating in the event are local so it’s a good way for someone to visit a whole bunch of them in one place. This event is also a fundraiser for the center itself. All of the money raised through the admission fees and the meals the center served will go right back to the senior center.
“We’re a nonprofit and we rely on donations and participation from the community,” McCormick said.
