New owner officially opens Allstate office Friday

Elysha Cook will be the new face and owner of the Allstate Insurance office at 351 Uinta Drive.

Cook, an 18-year resident of Green River, officially opens her office Dec. 1 with a ribbon cutting hosted by the Green River Chamber of Commerce at 5 p.m., and a chili cook-off.

Cook has worked in insurance for eight years, starting with Allstate Insurance. She decided to work in real estate and property titles for a short time before returning to the insurance field at State Farm, then going back to Allstate. Working in insurance can be difficult, but she said she enjoys helping people.

"When you see what happens to people, you can't help but want to help people," she said.

Cook said she's excited to be a part of the community, saying being involved locally is important to her.

She plans to host a donation drive called the Good Hands donation drive which aims to seek $50 donations, which will go to a shopping trip for disadvantaged children Dec. 17.

She and her three employees plan to host regular office hours, 8 a.m., to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday and 10 a.m., to 2 p.m., Saturdays.
