GRHS tennis team preps for regional tourney

A weekend trip to Cheyenne to compete against the capital city’s three high schools has the Green River High School tennis team in a good position for the upcoming regional tournament at Cheyenne South High School.

Tournament seeding was not released as of press time, but head coach Phil Harder believes many of the players, both girls and boys, will be placed in good positions.

“We should have some decent seeding,” Harder said.

While the team did lose against Central, the tennis players found success against the other Cheyenne teams, including only losing one match to South and dropping three to East.

“Last weekend was a good weekend,” Harder said. “We had some good matches.”

Practices this week have focused on giving players specific strategies to use in competition this weekend. Harder’s goal for the week is to provide his team with more tools to use in the upcoming tournament.

Harder said he’s looking forward to seeing his players compete against Central a second time this weekend.

“I’m excited to see how our young team will do,” Harder said.
