Cheer, golf coaches hired at GRHS

Two new coaches were hired to head up the golf and cheer programs at Green River High School, according to information sent by Anthony Beardsley, athletics director for Sweetwater County School District No. 2.

Karly Eyre was selected to be the new head golf coach, while Krista Simkin was chosen as the new cheerleading coach.

Eyre currently works at Lincoln Middle School as a health and physical education teacher, while Simkin returns to Sweetwater County after living in Colorado.

For Eyre, it’s a return, having previously worked as the high school’s head coach from 2009 to 2012. She was the 4A West Region Girls’ Golf Coach of the Year in 2009.

Simkin, a graduate of Rock Springs High School, was captain of the Western Wyoming Community College and RSHS cheer teams. She worked at Legacy Gym in Rock Springs as a tumbling, gymnastics and cheer instructor.
