Knights take 2nd at home invite

The Green River Knights A Team had a strong weekend playing at their home tournament last weekend.

However, facing a AA squad from Riverton resulted in a shutout 10-0 loss, ending dreams of winning their own tournament.

During their first game against Price, Utah, the Knights were on fire. The team were able to not only able to get runners on bases, but capitalize on situations score runs. The Knights defeated their Utah-based opponents 7-1.

The next day, the Knights faced their B team. Manager Stub Hatfield said the A team was able to keep the ball in play, which led to a huge 13-2 win for the A team.

A shutout 11-0 win against Steamboat Springs, Colo., propelled the team into the finals against a strong Riverton squad.

Hatfield said the team continues to make steps to improve itself, but believes the team still has a lot of work to do. The team travels to Laramie this weekend for more tournament action. The Knights are scheduled to take on a team from Spearfish, S.D., Friday, followed by a second game against Douglas immediately after. The team will then take on Laramie Saturday.

The team's record, according to Gamechanger.com, is 11-21.
