Thomas Dwayne Mitchelson, 64, of Rock Springs, passed away April 1, 2017, at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County. 

He had been a lifelong resident of Rock Springs. 

Mitchelson was born Oct. 10, 1952, in Rock Springs, the son of Leopold and Patsy Jean Carpenter Mitchelson. 

He attended schools in Rock Springs and was a 1971 graduate of the Rock Springs High School. 

Mitchelson was employed at FMC/Tronox for 42 years and retired as a mechanic June 1, 2016.  

He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Community.

Mitchelson enjoyed spending time with his family, bowling, hunting, camping and NASCAR. 

He also loved to sing and dance.

Survivors include his companion of 22 years, Judy Ice of Rock Spirngs; his sisters Susan Arguello and husband LeRoy of Rock Springs and Deena Blazek and husband Charles of Ennis, Texas; two step-sons, Brad Ice and wife Annette and Brandon Ice, all of Rock Springs; step-daughter Kim Flor of Phoenix, Ariz .; seven grandchildren, Nicole Dufford and husband Brady, Ashley Nieswender and husband Jake, Emily Ice, Aubrey Ice, Amya Ice, Maddox Ice, and Kayla Flor; one great-grandchild, Sadie Nieswender; two aunts, Miceala Mitchelson and Joann Wilmetti; nephews Brian Tronquet, Lucas Tonquet, Jr. Tronquet; one niece Sheridan Blazek; several cousins and his puppies Sniffles and Tiny T. 

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, his parents; one sister, Alice Jean, step-granddaughter Storey Ice, several aunts, uncles and cousins. 

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Rock Springs. A vigil service will rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at the church. Interment will be in the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Thursday, one hour prior to rosary and on Friday at the church one hour prior to services. 

The family of Tom Mitchelson respectfully suggests that donations in his memory be made to the Red Desert Humane Society.
