Seniors recognized

The Green River Wrestling senior class has had a phenomenal run and great success for the past four years.

Cyro Montoya, Gage Byers, Jordan Tucker, Zack Orr, Kaycee Cochrane, Eric Clingenpeel and Blake Waite have competed in the program all four years while Gabe Bunderman has been with us for three. The year before entering high school, the Wolves program was struggling as we finished in the middle of the pack in the 4A competition.

As freshmen and sophomores, these boys helped us climb up to a second place finish both years. As juniors, this group contributed greatly to knocking off Gillette and bringing the title back to Green River, ending Gillette’s 13-year streak. This past season saw this group defend the title which may be more difficult than winning it the first time.

This group produced two state team titles, two second place team finishes, eight all-state awards, many all-conference honors, multiple varsity letters, 18 state medals, and five individual champions. It has been a great group of guys to work with over the years and I am honored to be their coach.

They have all made the community of Green River and GRHS very proud. They will all be missed for their success on the mat, their leadership, and the great group of people they have become.
