For more than 15 years, the sight of students running along Monroe Avenue has become a familiar November scene for Green River residents.
Monroe Intermediate School's Turkey Trot took place Tuesday, with five waves of MIS students taking a run around the block.
Lori Hastert, one of the organizers, said the event has taken place in Green River for the past 15 years and the school uses the event to help encourage students to remain active during the Thanksgiving break.
"Exercise more than your thumbs," Hastert told students after their run.
