Richard Lewis "Dusty" Whetstone

Richard Lewis "Dusty" Whetstone, 66, of Rock Springs, passed away April 17, 2016 at his home. A resident of Rock Springs for the past two years and former resident of Kershockton, Ohio, Whetstone died following a battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was born Nov. 3, 1949 in Cambridge, Ohio, the son of Chester Cagg and Bonnie M. Whetstone.

Whetstone attended schools in Cambridge, Ohio.

He was employed as a truck driver for forty five years. Whetstone worked for many trucking companies and for the last 13 years he worked for Landstar Trucking and received the silver level of safety award.

Whetstone was a great father, uncle, brother friend and grandpa. He was part Cherokee Indian from the Wolf Clan and he was proud of his heritage. He enjoyed attending rendezvous and pow wows.

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, guns, riding Harley motorcycles, four wheelers and spending time with his family.

He is loved by his family and friends and he had such an impact on all of thier lives.

Survivors include his main squeeze Karen Rae of West Palm Beach, Fla.; daughter Tracy Gostrue and husband Andy of Newark, Ohio; three brothers, Tom Swingle and wife Anne of Rock Springs, Robert Cagg and Chester Cagg, both of Indianapolis; two sisters, Darleen Cagg and Emma Cagg, both of Indianapolis; five grandchildren, Paige, Bentley, Kobe, Drew and Mackenzie, all of Newark, Ohio; several cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Jane.

Cremation will take place and there are no services at this time.
