Student selected for Naval Academy

A Green River High School was selected to attend the Naval Academy Summer Seminar Program.

Eric Clingenpeel, a junior, will attend this program in June of 2016.

Student selection for the seminar is based on overall accomplishments in and out of the classroom. This fast-paced, six-day experience is designed to challenge student limits and take them beyond anything they have ever done before.

During this session, Clingenpeel will become part of the Naval Academy, he will live in Bancroft Hall, which is a dormitory for all Academy Midshipmen, eat in the dining hall, participate in academic and leadership workshops and experience a variety of other activities on campus. He will also see firsthand what the academy has to offer through its exceptional academic, athletic, extracurricular activities and other leadership training programs.

Workshop topics include, information technology, topics in math, meteorology, oceanography, robotics, computers and naval weapons systems, electrical and biometrics engineering, ship behavior in waves, ocean engineering, chemistry, foreign languages, history, political science, introduction to literature, economics, physics, character development seminars, martial arts, seamanship and navigation and nuclear engineering.

His goal after graduation from GRHS in 2017, is to attend either the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, or the Air Force in Colorado Springs, Colo.
