Swimmers medal in Gillette

While the Green River High School Boys Swimming and Diving team finished seventh at state, a few Wolves were able to excel in their individual events.

The Wolves had four medalists out of the state competitors they sent to Gillette last weekend.

Brendan Bloomquist took second in the 100-yard breaststroke, with fellow Wolf Ethan Moffatt taking third in the same event.

Michael Richmond took third in the 500-yard freestyle and in diving, Keyan Moore finished third.

Richmond also broke the school record in the 200-yard IM.

He finished sixth with a time of 2:02.60, but posted a preliminary time of 2:01.05, which would have clenched second in the final event.

In addition to medaling, the four were also named all-state at the meet.

"We had a great state," head coach Colleen Seiloff said. "It was an exciting weekend of swimming."

Seiloff said the program continues to improve and build itself up.

Green River finished higher this year than at the state meet last year. Seiloff said with returning swimmers and some new faces coming in from middle school competition, the team will be stronger next year.
