Library can help with resolutions

It’s a new year!

That means it’s time for a reboot. It’s time to look at what you can do to learn something new, experience something new, do something to make yourself happier, healthier. Thankfully, the Sweetwater County Library System has the resources you need to do all of these things.

Are you looking to read more this year? We’ve definitely got you covered. Our libraries have thousands of books to help you reach this goal. Stop by and check out our selection of mysteries, romances, sci-fi books and more! We have biographies and memoirs as well – something for everyone! And you can check out books without even coming into the library. The Sweetwater County Library System also offers eBooks and audiobooks that can be checked out for free on your devices. Visit our website at to find out more. If you need some extra motivation to help reach your reading goal, sign up for our Winter Reading Program. The program runs through Jan. 30. You have the opportunity to win some great prizes just for reading. You can’t beat that.

Are you looking to learn a new hobby this year? Check out some books on hobbies. We have books on knitting, crocheting, fly fishing, and more! You can also delve into art by checking out a book or by checking out one of our Zentangle classes. Zentangle is an art that uses structured patterns to create beautiful images.

Attend one of that classes at 6 p.m. Jan. 21 at White Mountain Library or at 6 p.m. Jan. 26 at the Sweetwater County Library.

Are you looking to learn a new language? Check out Mango Languages, an online service offered by the library System. Mango offers 60 languages from which to choose, and even offers an English as a second language option. Find Mango under the Online Services menu on our website.

Are you looking to get healthier this year? We have events and resources available. Check out the New Year, Better You program that will be at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 12 at White Mountain Library. A couple of our librarians will be making some healthy recipes found in cookbooks available from the library.

They will also go over the available resources the library offers in your quest for better health.
