Volleyball player signs with Central Wyo. College

One of the Lady Wolves will take to the volleyball court next year as a Central Wyoming College Rustler.

Senior Hattie Hix signed a letter of intent with Riverton's CWC last week to continue her volleyball career at the junior college level.

During her time in Green River, Hix was twice named All-Conference and earned All-State honors during the 2015 season. She also holds the season record for assists.

As the team's setter, Hix was a three-year starter for the Wolves Volleyball Team.

"She definitely made her mark on Green River High School," head coach Rikki Shantz said.

Hix has played volleyball since seventh grade and has participated in both summer league play and club volleyball in Salt Lake City. One of her most outstanding memories as a volleyball player happened last year when Green River qualified for the State Volleyball Tournament for the first time in five years.

Hix, who plans to study nursing at CWC, said the scholarship package they offered attracted her to the program. She also said she looks forward to working with the team's head coach, Tiffany Stauffenburg. Hix said she had offers from both Western Wyoming Community College and Laramie County Community College.
