Billy "Bill" Joe Purviance

Billy "Bill" Joe Purviance, 54, of Rock Springs, passed away on Nov. 15, 2015, at his home. Purviance was a longtime resident of Rock Springs and former resident of Nebraska.

He was born on July 9, 1961, in Scottsbluff, Neb., the son of Jerry Jerome Purviance and Dorothy Ann Parker.

Purviance attended schools in Morrill, Neb., and graduated from Morrill High School with the class of 1980.

He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Black Butte Coal for over 12 years.

Purviance was an avid fisherman who loved the state of Wyoming and being outside in Rock Springs. He loved to be with friends, as well as his family.

Survivors include one son Jerry Purviance of Fredrick, Colo .; one brother David Purviance of Morrill, Neb .; one sister Tammie Droddy and husband John of Mitchell, Neb .; several aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews, including Cherisa Lara and husband Nicholas and Elizabeth Hendricks and husband Shawn, Kaden Purviance, Marquis Droddy, Tina Droddy, Andrew Lara and Sabion Hendricks.

He was preceded in death by his father Jerry Purviance, maternal and paternal grandparents and several aunts and uncles.

Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will take place at 11 a.m., Saturday, at the First United Methodist Church, 207 West Franklin Street, Morrill, Neb. Inurnment will be in the Forrest Lawn Cemetery in Morrill, Neb. Friends may call one hour prior to services.

A memorial fund for Billy "Bill" Joe Purviance has been set up at the Rock Springs National Bank, P.O. Box 880, Rock Springs, Wyoming 82902.  Funds collected will be given to the Wyoming Game and Fish.
