Kids trick or treat downtown Friday

Children and teens from throughout the Green River converged on Downtown Green River Friday afternoon dressed up as their favorite characters and monsters, trick or treating at many of the local businesses.

A few stops along the way also were caught up in the Halloween spirit and employees at the Sweetwater County Courthouse, City Hall and businesses like Tolley's Coffee were showing off their costumes to visitors. At the county courthouse, the second-floor offices each maintained a specific theme for their employees.

Workers in the county assessor's office dressed as characters from "Alice in Wonderland," while those working in the clerk's office dressed as Disney princesses and the staff at the county treasurer's office dressed as yellow minions from the "Despicable Me" films.

While the event provides a safe atmosphere for the city's youth to trick-or-treat in, many businesses in the area also see their highest number of visitors in a single day during the event.
