Volleyball team defeats Rock Springs squad

The Green River High School’s varsity volleyball team took on rival Rock Springs and walked away with the win Wednesday night.

The Lady Wolves, heavily supported by a home crowd of noisy high school students, tamed the Lady Tigers in three sets. Their victory is their first conference win of the season and gives the team an overall record 9-4.

During the girls’s first set against Rock Springs, the play was a feverish back and fourth between Rock Springs and Green River, with both teams taking short leads before the other would catch up. The Wolves were able win the set 25-23.

The Lady Wolves were able to put more pressure on the Lady Tigers during the second set. Green River put together an impressive streak of points, ultimately ending the set 25-14. Rock Springs attempted to make a come back during the third and final set. The Lady Tigers pulled ahead to an early lead over Green River, but solid play from the Lady Wolves kept them in the game.

The Lady Wolves were able to overcome the stronger determination from Rock Springs and end the game with a 25-23 victory.
