Crash sends woman to hospital

Thursday evening, at 5:20 p.m., a vehicle crash occurred at the intersection of Uinta Drive and Riverview Drive that condensed traffic.

A white Dodge Journey was driving north bound, down Uinta and was attempting to turn left onto Riverview Drive on a green light for oncoming traffic going straight, with a yellow turning light when the crash occurred.

The second vehicle, a white Jeep Liberty, was driving south bound on Uinta, going straight through the intersection in the outside, right hand lane. Approaching the intersection, neither driver saw the other until it was too late. An uninvolved vehicle to the accident was also at the intersection at the time of the crash. The vehicle was also driving south bound on Uinta, and was in the left lane, next to the turning lane. A comment from the police report says the driver slowed down at the intersection to avoid hitting the oncoming turning vehicle.

It was too late for the Jeep driver, Cheryl Parrish, 59, of Green River and the driver of the Dodge, Thomas Allee, 31, of Green River, turning onto Riverview. The two vehicles collided in the intersection. Allee was turning when the front of Parrish’ vehicle collided unto the passenger side of Allee’s vehicle.

“It knocked me off my feet,” Cheryl Parrish said. “There was nothing I could do. I didn’t have any warning. He just appeared in front of me and close, he was right there.”

The crash sent Parrish to the hospital with non life threatening injuries. She was released from the hospital a few hours later, with lacerations and bruising.

Allee was cited for inattentive driving.
