School district hires new activities director

Sweetwater County School District No. 2 has a new activities director.

Last week, the district announced it hired Anthony Ray Beardsley. He will take over for longtime Activities Director Tom Wilson, who is retiring this summer.

Beardsley is currently the activities director at the Big Sky School District in Montana. He brings extensive experience to the position including the last four years in Big Sky, one year at Montana State University, and one year as an assistant athletic director at the University of Michigan.

Prior to his stint as an activities director, Beardsley coached collegiate wrestling. His high school experience includes 20 years of teaching as a physical education and health teacher while serving as head football and wrestling coach.

Beardsley has a masters of education degree from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in educational leadership and a masters of science degree from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in sports administration.

“Activities directing is a lifestyle; it’s a healthy lifestyle that I enjoy immensely,” Beardsley said.

He will begin the new position July 1.
