Giving to others in need

Dedication and commitment were needed for Brennan Davis to obtain his Eagle Scout.

Davis, a 10th-grade student, spent four years in Troop 19. Davis said he heard about the Boy Scouts through his church, which emphasized the importance of joining community groups.

“My mom really helped me to decide to become a Cub Scout and progress towards my decision to continue to Boy Scout,” he said.

Through the years Davis has participated in numerous projects, including the Scouting For Food Food Drive. He has also helped others complete their Eagle Scout projects.

“My favorite project is when I helped out with Kamden Carol’s eagle project because we had Subway for lunch and we played at the (Green River Recreation Center) all day,” he said.

Determining what to do for an Eagle Scout project can be hard.

“My mom actually found my project; and from there I just had to contact everyone needed and find out what I needed and my deadline,” he said. “My project will benefit all who are homeless; and in need of proper sanitation.”

Davis’ scout project showed him a world he didn’t even know existed.

“I learned that many have it worse than I do and my life is a blessing compared to many,” Davis said. “Being a scout member has taught me that hard work can really pay off and through service and perseverance I can learn to serve more frequently and honestly.”

When Davis isn’t busy with Boy Scouts, he is busy with cross country, track and the high school’s computer animation and video/camera clubs. He is also a member of the National Honors Society.

Davis said obtaining his Eagle Scout was not an easy task. It took a lot of time, dedication and hard work.
