Richmond nabs four records

In his middle school swimming career, eighth-grader Michael Richmond has broken an amazing four school records.

With the season winding down, Richmond said he would like to break two more.

According to Green River Middle School Coach Randy Walker, Richmond has broken school records in the 200 freestyle, 100 individual medley, 50 butterfly and 100 backstroke.

Walker said Richmond has made tremendous strides as a swimmer.

The team will finish the season at the middle school conference meet in Riverton, and Richmond said he wants to break the school record in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle events.

Richmond also wants his team to be able to capture first place at conference. He said they had finished first at every event until recently against Lyman, but he thinks the team can place first.

Walker said there a lot of good swimmers on the team and told them before practice Monday they have a very good team, but need to be ready for a tough Lander team at conference.

While Richmond said it was awesome to break the school records, he said it was not as great as being able to win two state titles at last year’s USA State Meet.
