Four players earn conference honors

Four Green River athletes were recognized last week by the Wyoming Coaches Association.

Sophomore standout Taylor Stoeger was named to the team 4A West All Conference team.

“She is very deserving of the recognition. She was very well respected by the other coaches and she led the team is a lot of categories,” head coach Rick Carroll said.

He added senior Kasey Turnbull was named to the all-conference second team.

“She did a great job leading our team,” Carroll said.

On the boys side, senior basketball players Tanner Trumble and Hayden Love both named as honorable mention members to the 4A West Regional team. Wolves coach Dan LaRose praised Love and Trumble for their efforts, but said he had hoped they had received a spot on the all-conference team, instead getting the honorable mention nods.

LaRose said that the 4A West team used to honor 14 players, but was dropped to 12 this year, and that cost Green River members on the team.

LaRose and Rock Springs coach Blair Einfeldt were the top two vote getters for the 4A West coach of the year honors.

Einfeldt won the honor by one vote.

LaRose, who resigned from coaching last week, said being recognized by his peers says a lot of nice things about the program, how hard the kids played, and how they grew as a team.
