Lois Kay Rollins Simms

Lois Kay Rollins Simms, 71, of Ely, Nev. passed away March 1, 2015 at the Deseret Health and Rehabilitation Center in Rock Springs. A longtime resident of Ely, Nevada and former longtime resident of Rock Springs, Simms died following a lengthy illness.

She was born on Feb. 23, 1944 in Evanston, the daughter of the late Sherman Rollins and MaryEllen Burdick Rollins.

Simms attended schools in Evanston and was a 1962 graduate of the Evanston High School.

She married Jay C. Simms in Evanston on Feb. 7, 1972 and he passed away in Salt Lake City Oct. 29, 2013.

Her interests included her cats, playing cards with her family, computer games, swinging on the porch swing, spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandson.

Survivors include one son, Chaunc Lee Simms of Ely, Nev.; two daughters, Joni Simms Horner of Ely, Nev. and Annie J. Simms Stingerie of Rock Springs; one brother, Ron Rollins of Alpine; three sisters, Claudia Bennett of Rock Springs, Comet Bettinson of Evanston and Beth Hinds of Farmington, Utah; six grandchildren, C.J. Horner, Boni Horner, Bishop Stingerie, Pearl Stingerie, Ever Hansen, Jianna Hansen-Stingerie; one great-grandson Dominic Horner; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents Sherman Rollins and MaryEllen Burdick Rollins, her husband Jay C. Simms, and two brothers, Floyd Rollins and Rex Rollins.

Cremation will take place and services will be held at a later date.
