Thomas Leo Davis Sr.

Thomas Leo Davis Sr., 83, of Clayton, Ga. passed away Jan. 28, 2015, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. He was born March 20, 1931, in Johnstown, Penn., and was the son of the late Thomas and Leanna Davis.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Julia Davis. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Carolyn Mosteller Davis; three sons, Thomas Davis Jr. of Gainesville, Ga. Chris Davis of Philadelphia, and Scott Davis of Florida; one sister, Jane Leitenger of California; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Davis served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and was the controller for FMC Corp.

He served as city administrator for the City of Green River from Feb.4, 1987 to Aug. 10, 1992. He moved to Rabun County from Wyoming in 1992 and was a member of St. Helena Catholic Church, where he was a very active member. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Rotary International, Kiwanis, Silver Eagles.

A memorial service for Davis took place Jan. 31, 2015, St. Helena Catholic Church, Clayton, with Father Alvaro Avendano officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Thomas Davis’ memory to Knights of Columbus, 316 Westwind Trail, Clayton, Ga, 30525, or to St. Helena Catholic Church.
