George A. Lev

George A. Lev, 88, of Green RIver, passed away Nov. 5, 2014. A longtime resident of Green River and a former resident of Pinedale, Lev passed away following a lengthy illness.

Lev was born in Brookside, Ohio, on July 20, 1926, the son of Andy Frank Lev and Edna Sima.

He married Leotrice Nettie Wiens in Duluth, Minn., on Dec. 21, 1951.

Lev served in the United States Navy during World War II.

He came to Wyoming in 1946 and went to work for "Doc" Lauzer at the CL Bar Ranch in Cora. He later worked at Triangle R. Lodge in Pinedale where he started a grocery store. Lev also worked for the Holden Mining Company as a copper miner and later for United States Postal Service.

He was a member of Local Union #800 of Operating Engineers and was employed as a heavy equipment operator. His last employment was working as a heavy equipment operator for Sweetwater County Road and Bridge until his retirement in 1989.

He was a member of the St. John's Episcopal Church. Veterans of Foreign Wars #2321: lifetime member, past post commander, past District #A adjutant and service officer. He was a member of the Military Order of the Cootie (MOC) Wyoming #007 Sheridan: past state commander of MOC, past commander and past treasurer of MOC in Green River. He was also a long time member and Past Treasurer of the Sweetwater County Democratic Party and was a Member of  Fraternal Order of Eagles #2350.

Lev was a master story teller whose interests included bowling, hunting and fishing.

He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and his many friends.

Survivors include Leotrice N. Lev of Green River; two sons, David Lev and wife Susie of Green River, and Andy Lev and wife Kriste of Rock Springs; one daughter, Trice Ann Roberts and husband Edward of San Pablo, Calif .; one sister, Bessie MacNeal of Elmira, N.Y .; his grandchildren Sierra Gray and husband Stuart of Baltimore, Zach Roberts of San Pablo, Calif., Christy Lev of Rock Springs, Thomas Lev and wife Marcia of Casper, Peter Fleming of Rock Springs, Jeremy Winn and wife Heather of Gillette, and Charles Winn of Greeley, Colo .; his great-grandchildren Meghan Brewer, Michael Lev, Dominic Fleming Codie Winn, Wyatt Winn, Hayden Winn, Adam Winn; one niece, one nephew; his sister-in-law, Jayne Jago of Dublin, Ohio; and his friend Karen Thompson of Green River.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Julie Lev; his son Jeffrey Lev; three brothers, Jerry, Fred and Stanley; two sisters Anne and Rose; one granddaughter Janice Marie Lev, one grandson Timotohy Alex Winn.

A celebration of life took place Tuesday.
