Lady Wolves get second chance at rivals

The Green River Lady Wolves volleyball team will look to exact revenge tomorrow night against rival Rock Springs High School.

In the first matchup of the season, Rock Springs (8-15 1-4 4A West) picked up its only conference win of the season with a thrilling five-set home win over the Lady Wolves.

This time the game will be at Green River High School and head coach Rikki Shantz said her team is excited to get another crack at the Lady Tigers.

She said in the first matchup, the team made a lot of errors and gave Rock Springs some points they didn't necessarily earn.

"Hopefully we can turn that around," she said.

The Thursday game is also part of Think Pink, a fundraiser for breast cancer.

Shantz said the girls will all be wearing pink jerseys, they will sell memorial balloons which will be released after the match. A raffle will take place as well.

Spectators are also encouraged to wear pink.

The freshman game is slated to begin at 3 p.m., the sophomore game is set for 4 p.m., the junior varsity game will take place at 5 p.m. and the varsity teams will clash at 6 p.m.

Last Thursday, Green River had a strong start against the number-four ranked team in the state, Riverton.

The Lady Wolves opened with a 25-20 win the first first set before falling in the next three sets. 25-20, 25-19, and 25-22.

Shantz said she was happy with how the girls came out, but wished they had a bit more consistency.
