Golfers gain experience, head to Casper tourney

Green River High School golf coach Nathan Loe knows that the 2014 team does not have a lot of experience, he just wants to see them continually improve as the season winds down.

Loe said that they lost a majority of their varsity team from last season, but they do have a a lot of good younger golfers who are showing quite a bit of talent.

"A majority of the kids are dropping their scores from Thursday to Friday, so I'm not disappointed, they just don't have that varsity experience," he said.

The one constant from last years varsity team in senior Brock Ortega. Loe said he did really well at a recent tournament in Rock Spring and was able to shoot consecutive rounds in the 70s, somewhere he would like to him to stay. He added if Ortega continues to improve, he doesn't see any reason why he cannot place at the state tournament.
