A fire south of Rock Springs continues to fiercely burn its way across the landscape. The fire, located about 20 miles south of Rock Springs, started Sunday at about 3 p.m. and is estimated to be around 2,500 acres. According to a Bureau of Land Management High Desert District press release, the wildfire has now spread to the Maggie Springs and Bitter Creek areas, near County Road 27. Over the weekend our dishwasher leaked and water ended up between the layers of our floor and proceeded to leak into the basement. It was a mess. We had to pull up our vinyl floor and run fans to dry out the subfloor. Our kitchen is unusable at the moment, but hopefully we can get everything back up and running soon. Thankfully, we have resources at the library to help us figure out how to repair our kitchen. Despite a rough start, the Green River Knights American Legion Baseball team took second at the state tournament in Lovell last week. While the team was able to edge out Lovell 6-5 in their first match last Tuesday, which head coach Stub Hatfield attributes to a three-run home run hit made by Brendan Hopkins. Ten members of Green River’s USA swim club attended the state swimming championship in Gillette July 17-19. Swim coach Randy Walker said he would have liked to have more swimmers attend, but due to summer vacations and obligations, a majority of the swimmers from the club could not make it to the competition.
