Last week, the Green River City Council voted to waive traveling vendor fees for the annual farmer’s market. According to city documents, the city has historically waived the fees for the market vendors. House Bill 70, which was sponsored by the select water committee, grants funding to a number of water projects throughout the state, included the Jamestown-Rio Vista Water and Sewer District’s proposed water line in its funding bill. The Sweetwater County Child Developmental Center hired a Green River educator to take the helm of the organization. Last week, the CDC announced the center’s board offered the position to Lu Kasper, who currently works as the principal at Harrison Elementary School. A starting date has yet to be determined, but her employment will start after the current school year concludes. Being a Sweetwater County Tradition for the past several years, the Bowls of Caring fundraising event attracted more than 800 people to the Sweetwater County Events Complex last week. A late-morning holdup at a rest area east of Rock Springs has the Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office seeking the unidentified bandit. According to a release from the sheriff’s office, William Hall, a truck driver from Mississippi had parked at the Bitter Creek Rest Area about 40 miles east of Rock Springs when he was robbed at gunpoint at about 10 a.m. March 20. Nine Green River High School wrestlers and about a dozen Green River Grapplers combined as a team to compete at the Rocky Mountain Wrestling Tournament in Denver.
