  • Just put your cart away

    Jack H. Smith, Staff Writer|Mar 18, 2015

There are things in this world I will never understand. I’m not talking about those things that will keep you up late at night like thinking about how big the universe is, and how there has to aliens out their somewhere and if they come it’s most likely going to be bad news. I’m talking about the little day-to-day things. I’m sure some of it comes with age, but a lot of it comes with common sense, and how I’m pretty sure that 50 percent of the general population lacks it. I always find myse...

  • Three letters define amazing tournament victory

    Jack H. Smith, Staff Writer|Mar 18, 2015

ADU. Those three letters represent exactly what is great about the University of Wyoming basketball program. From the time Larry Shyatt took over the program four-years ago he preached to everyone that would listen that his team was all about -- aggressiveness, discipline and unselfishness (ADU). Last Saturday, the state got to see the culmination of four hard years of work and never straying from those three letters that mean so much the players, coaches, and fans. With a 45-43 win over San Die...

  • Experiences to make one a cave-dwelling recluse

    Jack H. Smith, Staff Writer|Mar 11, 2015

Do you ever have those days? The older I get, the further I distance myself from wanting to be around large groups of humans. Or maybe just most humans in general. I had two instances last week that just made me want to scream. It’s stories like these that really make me want to move to a cave and spend the rest of my days living there with nothing but the necessities. The first was a simple misunderstanding that almost turned into what could have been a scary situation. I had gone to the c...

  • It's the little (embarrassing) things that stick out

    Jack H. Smith, Staff Writer|Mar 4, 2015

Embarrassing things happen from time to time, and we all have those moments in life we’d like to forget. For some reason, I always seem to find my self in some self-caused predicament I cannot seem to live down for a really long time. Last week I had one of these unfortunate experiences with some really awful timing. Since it’s over and done with and the damage is done, I can find humor in a life filled with some pretty epic disasters. Sometimes sharing a story can be a remedy, and the lau...

  • A rewarding Saturday morning

    Jack H. Smith, Staff Writer|Feb 25, 2015

I didn’t want to get out of bed last Saturday morning. I was tired and I didn’t sleep well. I tossed and turned all night with a million things going through my head. It was warm in my bed, and after peaking my out of the covers to look outside showed me that it was cold outside. I just wanted to stay in my bed till at least 10 a.m., than slowly proceed to...
