Wolves come out on top against Pinedale Wranglers

The Green River Wolves Soccer team hosted their first home game of the season against the Pinedale Wranglers last Thursday.

Green River dominated the first half of the game, scoring two goals while Pinedale was unable to get on the scoreboard. During the second half, Green River scored another three goals while Pinedale scored one goal. The Wolves celebrated a victorious conference win against the Wranglers with a final score of 5-1.

Leading the team were Guy Grace, Jaxon Morris, Irie Kuball, Izyk Arellano and Gavin Mares, all scoring one goal each, along with Arellano and Kaiden Dodson with one assist each. Goalkeeper Jake Demaret had four saves during the game, along with one save from Eddie Zarate. There were numerous shots made Braxton Doak during the game, along with shots from Maddux Hintz and Stone Rubeck.

Assistant Coach Greg Doak felt the boys played very well against Pinedale and their defense was awesome. He thought that, offensively, they didn't possess the ball as well as the could have. During practices this week they have been working on possessing the ball and getting the ball in the net.

"They are coming together as a team," explained Coach Doak. "I think the way we are progressing this year is way better than last year. The cohesion's really good."

The Wolves will have a chance to practice a lot during their two-week break from games. They will host a game against the Powell Panthers on Friday, April 12 at 5 p.m. and on Saturday, April 13 they will host another game against the Cody Broncs at 5 p.m. On Tuesday, April 16, the team will travel to take on the Lander Tigers.
