RSPD K9 recovers controlled substances including fentanyl

On Friday, March 1, Rock Springs Police Department Officer LaPointe initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in Rock Springs.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Mark Harding of Utah.

During the stop, Officer Brown's police K9 indicated the presence of a controlled substance inside the suspect vehicle.

The vehicle was searched and officers found approximately 100 grams of methamphetamine, 6 grams of heroin, 19 fentanyl pills, and other controlled substances.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested for two counts of alleged unlawful manufacture or delivery - schedule I, II or III; two counts of alleged unlawful possession - schedule I or II > 3 ounces, 3/10 gram, 3 grams or 5/10 gram respective; three counts of alleged unlawful possession - pill or capsule < 3 grams - 3rd+ offense; and one count of alleged driving while license cancelled, suspended or revoked.

As a reminder, all suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
